Feast Farewell
“Sounds like a waste of time.” Jared said, shrugging his narrow shoulders. He stared vacantly at the table for a moment before turning to Brian. “But I’m not going to stop you.”
“This is not what we voted on and it feels like an unnecessary risk.” Taylor said, cutting through the grating silence that permeated the room. She looked towards the other members. No one moved. The only one who returned her gaze was Brian. “Kris are you ok with this?” She asked in a voice pitched in crisis.
“I am.” He quickly replied.
“What?” The width of her eyes expanded and her face contorted as if to puzzle out a thought that would not register.
“Brian is right.” He inhaled deeply through his red rimmed nostrils. “We’ve fallen off the rails. This could bring us back. It's worth the small risk.” He sounded softer than usual.
“I will bring my guards to ensure there is no escape.” Brian said assuredly.
“What about our vote?’ Taylor said.
“If this fails, then I will honor the vote and see that the sentence is followed through at once.”
“Your guards!” Roger said through a faint laugh.
Brian snapped his head towards Roger. He turned his nose up. “I think we’ve heard enough from you today Roger.” He replied sharply.
“Oh really? But I have one more thing to say! Then I will go.” He stood and looked around the hall, pausing for a moment at each individual member around the table.
